Meet Dr. Vishnuteja Devalla, MD

Board-Certified Rheumatologist | Patient-Centered Care | Multi-State Licensed Ivy League training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center

Dr. Devalla’s Mission:

"I believe every patient deserves clarity, compassion, and confidence when managing autoimmune disease."

My Story

Medicine has always been more than a career for me—it’s a calling rooted in curiosity, service, and a desire to connect with people in moments that matter most.

My journey began in biomedical and electrical engineering, where I developed a deep respect for systems, precision, and how complex problems often require elegant, well-informed solutions.

That same mindset shaped my approach to medicine—and continues to guide the way I practice rheumatology today.

After earning my medical degree with honors from Trinity School of Medicine, I completed my Internal Medicine residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.  Then, I completed my rheumatology fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, an Ivy League institution, one of the nation’s leading academic institutions for autoimmune and inflammatory disease research, where I trained in translational research, biomarker-guided therapies, and the evolving science of autoimmune disease.

Over the past several years, I’ve cared for patients in Duluth, Minnesota, managing a wide spectrum of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions such as:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Lupus
  • Vasculitis
  • Polymyalgia rheumatica
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Gout
  • Osteoporosis

Alongside this clinical expertise, I’ve developed a strong passion for understanding how gut health is connected to the immune system, especially in the onset and progression of autoimmune diseases and inflammatory arthritis.

I believe that treating these conditions requires more than suppressing symptoms—it requires addressing the root causes of immune dysfunction. That’s why I actively incorporate the latest research on the gut microbiome, inflammation, and nutritional factors into my treatment approach when appropriate.

I also contributed to clinical trials, real-world evidence studies, and safety surveillance projects—experiences that continue to inform how I treat patients today. But what I value most—above titles, publications, or protocols—is connection.

I strive to build strong, trusting relationships with every patient I meet. My goal is to provide education that empowers and treatment plans that are clear, science-based, and tailored to each individual.

Whether we’re discussing a diagnosis, a complex biologic therapy, lifestyle changes, or gut-related strategies, my commitment is to meet my patients where they are and guide them with honesty and compassion.
